Adults – the Treatment Process

Your Smile Returns

Regardless of age, the desire for a correction of tooth malpositions is also increasing in adults. Depending on our individual diagnosis, we can achieve an improvement after a relatively short period of time – which in turn promotes your well-being and self-assurance and makes you you smile again.

The treatment of tooth malposition serves to improve or restore the function of the chewing apparatus as well as to eliminate aesthetic deficiencies. Often, dental treatment results of restaurations with crowns and bridges can also be improved by orthodontic measures.

PRACTICALLY INVISIBLE
Having the therapy and the appropriate treatment plan in mind, we particularly take into account the age-related biological characteristics. Once the growth of the jaw has been completed, maxillofacial malpositions can sometimes only be corrected surgically.

We will discuss with you whether your attending dentist should carry out preliminary work, if necessary. Furthermore, we take impressions of your jaws, X-rays and photos of your teeth and examine your jaw joint position.

Since adults usually attach great importance to be treated as inconspicuously or even as invisibly as possible, we offer tooth-colored brackets, lingual braces or INVISALIGN®.
We would be happy to advise you on your individual options.

Privately Insured
Many private insurance companies offer orthodontic treatment of adults as part of their scope of services. On a case-by-case basis, you should address your health insurance or submit a treatment and cost schedule for approval. In our experience, health insurance companies tend to behave obligingly.
If you are eligible to benefit, you will receive only a limited reimbursement.

Publicly Insured
For patients who are 18 years old at the beginning of the orthodontic treatment the public health insurance companies don’t cover the costs. Publically insured patients must bear all the costs of orthodontic treatment themselves.

With the exception of patients with severe jaw abnormalities, who must be treated orthodontically and surgically. Again, the benefits must be adequate, advisable and cost-effective. Some treatment methods not described in the catalogue of services of the public health insurances (e.g. Invisalign®), are also excluded from reimbursement.
